Teaching Philosophy

Political science is one of the most challenging topics to teach as many of our subjects are controversial and stir up many emotions. However, to be the most impactful in my student's education. I strive to understand my students and what political aspects are most important to them. I plan to set clear learning goals so that expectations are easily understood while also staying cognizant of how much my students understand and retain. The 21st century is a time of unparalleled change. As a result, I plan on harnessing the best technology available to enhance the overall learning experience while striving to make the educational topics relevant to everyday life. Finally, I will continue my education to ensure that my students receive all the updated strategies that come to fruition after my formal education ends.

Spring 2024- TA for American Federal Government (POS 2041)

Students: 49

Course Evaluations: 4.92/5.0

Student Testimonials:

“Hunter was super enthusiastic about this course, which I appreciated. He was always very welcoming and offered any extra help to those who wanted to seek it. He also created a neutral and open classroom where opinions could be heard and respected even when students disagreed.”

“Hunter is so enthusiastic about the material. He explains politics and somewhat complex systems easily and makes it easy to understand. Hunter is also really good at explaining both or multiple "sides," and he is unbiased when he does so. He also makes the environment so comfortable that everybody is engaged in the discussion. It is very rare to see even shy people speak up and express their opinions on somewhat controversial topics.”
